Using Growth Mindset to Elevate Your Business
How having a growth mindset is crucial to the success of your business as an entrepreneur by Kelly Harris
You finally decided to create a business and you are so excited.
Go you! You rock!
Question though. Are you ready for the biggest challenge yet?
Entrepreneurship is the biggest course in personal development that you will ever take. Did you know that your mindset will dictate the success or failure of your business endeavors? Mindset is the single biggest indicator of the success inside your business. It is crucial to your success that you adopt a growth mindset, be open to opportunities, fail to succeed, and take action.

Why Adopt a Growth Mindset
Growth mindset allows you to elevate your business in ways that many cannot imagine. Growth mindset allows you to develop, expand your viewpoints, and see the opportunities and potential around you at every moment. Every failure becomes an opportunity to progress your business and your brand. It opens your eyes and allows you to look at all aspects of your life through the lens of potential. Keep in mind that life is a journey. Be intentional with your thoughts and actions.
Be open to Opportunities
Opportunities are everywhere. Have you ever bought or know someone who has bought a car? You pick out the car that you like and buy it. Then suddenly you see your car everywhere. Dodge Journeys are in every parking lot. Conveniently enough, they are all the same color as yours. Here’s the thing.
If you focus on a type of car, you will find it. If you focus and expect bad things, you will find them.. If you believe that people are generally good and want to help each other, then that is what you will find. What we focus on, grows. Would it not then stand to reason that having a growth mindset and being open to opportunities would then give the universe permission to put opportunities in our path. We need only to recognize them as opportunities and act upon them.

Fail to Succeed
“If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L. means “first Attempt In Learning”
― A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Let us take a moment to clarify something. Failure is a verb. By definition, it simply means lack of success. It is not, nor was it ever meant to be a label. Someone told me long ago that F.A.I.L. is an acronym and stands for First Attempt In Learning. It is imperative to understand that failure is simply a lack of success. It does not mean that YOU are a failure. It just means that you were not successful, THIS TIME.
It is a well known fact that Thomas Edison attempted to create the lightbulb a thousand times. He was successful on his one thousandth time. When a reporter asked him what it felt like to FAIL a thousand times, he replied, “I didn’t fail a thousand times. I simply found nine hundred and ninety nine ways NOT to create a lightbulb.
We must adopt the adage that every failure moves us closer to the business that we want to have, to being the business owner that we are meant to be. If that is the case, then we must fail faster because each failure is a step in the direction of success.

Take Action
Understanding and adopting a growth mindset is crucial for your entrepreneurial success. The single most important thing though, is ACTION. Use your growth mindset to see the opportunities. Find the potential. Take messy action. Nothing will ever be perfect. No launch, no email, no relationship. So we learn from them and grow. Make a plan. Don’t overthink and go. Put it out there for the world to see. Take the feedback and the criticism and use it to fuel tweaks and changes to make it amazing. Not just amazing. A – Maze – Ing! Tweak it and test it until it resonates with your tribe nd memberships.
Use your growth mindset to see the opportunities within feedback and use your client’s words to make it better. Make it an experience and build the relationships.
With Growth Mindset, You Got This!
Having a growth mindset is so important. It is super beneficial to adopt the growth mindset and surround yourself with other people who will help support your mindset. Consider hiring a mindset coach. Pay attention to your triggers and when you slip, notice it and make a note. You will learn quickly what things support your mindset and when you slip. Have a care not to adopt a false growth mindset which supports you only in times of growth. This happens when you have a growth mindset only when things are going your way, but you immediately go back to catastrophe mode when things are going your way. A true growth mindset will see the opportunities in your moments that were then successful.
You can do hard things! Afterall, you choose the journey of entrepreneurship. You got this. You always have!
